Maddie Update 6/9

Hi all,

It’s been about two weeks since Maddie came home from the hospital.  She’s doing very well and her follow up appointments have all been uneventful.  She is able to sit for an extended amount of time with minimal support and is starting to stand while leaning on something for a short while.  Abby is so glad to have her baby sister back home.  Attached are a few pictures from these past two weeks.
Maddie‘s next milestone is graduating from the special low fat formula and going back to breastmilk on Saturday.  We are hopeful that her lymphatic system has healed enough so her xrays next week will be negative for chylous output.  After that it’s back to learning how to crawl, stand, and most importantly to gain weight!
What an amazing God we have.  If a stranger came to our house, they would see a normal, alert, smiling baby trying to stuff toys into her mouth and only if they looked hard enough, they may notice the pinkish scar poking out from her neckline.  We are so blessed.

Here’s Abby keeping Maddie company.  Notice the bandaids on Maddie’s legs where we give her daily blood thinner shots.  She takes them very well – so well that if we distract her, she doesn’t even cry anymore.

Thank you all,
