Maddie’s home again!

Hi friends and family,

Maddie was discharged from KKI this morning!  All the nurses and therapists came to say good bye and wished us luck.  Her arms and legs are much looser and mostly do not require splints anymore.  She’s also been stridor-free for a while now with only one recurrence last week.  The speech therapist is letting us feed her three times a day by mouth (purees only, no milk yet).  Most impressively, she’s almost 20 lbs now!  Up from around 14-15 lbs when she went in for brain surgery 8 weeks ago.  We’re so grateful for the time at KKI and the dozens of nurses, specialists and techs who cared for her there.  But we’re also very very happy to have Maddie at home.

Here’s a picture of her sitting in her stroller getting ready for discharge.  You can see how much she’s grown since May (Petco visit).

Over the last 4 months we’ve had a variety of arm bands, name tags, parent IDs, and temporary labels.  This is the last one I had to get from KKI.

Abby was so excited to have Maddie back home as well.  She spent the whole evening making sure that Maddie had her pacifier and that she was comfortable.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  Maddie still has a long way to go, but this was an important milestone.  We hope that she will get back into a more regular napping routine, that her boisterous older sister will provide additional stimulation, and that Jen can get some much needed rest.
